Microsoft has recently announced an entirely new software, Windows Embedded NavReady 2009 aimed for GPS units. Based on Windows Embedded CE, this software combines navigation tools with Live Search, MSN Direct and SideShow to show you the best solutions for your itinerary.

Windows Embedded NavReady 2009 offers new technologies to help developers quickly bring to market, smart, connected, service-oriented PNDs that easily connect to mobile phones using Bluetooth, Windows-based PCs and the Internet. OEMs and developers are already getting the product, the company said.

I suppose it's not enough to dominate the PC world, they have sights for PNDs, too.
