Segway is an electric scooter that was introduced in 2001.
It's actually a self balancing vehicle that runs on a re-chargeable battery and can go up to 25 miles per charge.
Lately the oil and global warming concerns have risen beyond expectations and most Americans are now opting to use this electric vehicle to commute to work and daily business instead of the standard cars.
The company claims that the sales have jumped 50% this quarter and the orders are continuously increasing. Among the new customers are local governments and universities whose budgets are hit badly because of gasoline prices.
New York's Syracuse University and the University of Kansas say they bought Segways for their campus police this year, in part because of rising gasoline prices.
