Sources from Taiwan confirmed last Friday that AMD is already start shipping the Radeon HD 4000-series video chipsets. The first lot that includes the new ATI Radeon HD 4850 has already reached the retail stores and comes with a significant clock speed increase, from 670MHz to 800MHz. Though it'sfaster it won't affect the heat factor.
There is no official retail price for the new chipsets but we know it should range from $179 to $219. Rumors say that AMD will wait till the last day (real-world launch June 18th) to price their cards because they're probably waiting to see what NVIDIA comes up with and if they need to go lower.
Higher performance cards from AMD, such as the Radeon HD 4870 as well as the 4870 X2, are projected to ship in the late summer.
