Knowing that Harvard GSAS was hacked a few weeks before it's weird to find out that Myspace and Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet Security have created a new "task force" to protect children from online plunders and to improve online safety tools. Others organizations to be interested in the partnership are Google, Microsoft, Facebook and Yahoo!
The main priority of these guys is going to be age verification, though I'm not sure how are they going to fight it knowing that false identities on the Internet are widely spread. For adults it could be easier, but if for kids which usually are minors and have no documents to show (driver's license or a credit card) is nearly impossible.
Though there may not be tools right now, I'm sure Myspace has a great deal of experience with dealing with child predators and said they will try to "identify the technologies and tools that will be available industry-wide to provide a safer online experience for all Internet users."
I applaud for taking action and wish them luck.
