Official expectation where for Android to hit mass production in the second half of 2008 and it looks like they'll make it. It's curious to see ARM producing the first Android device, knowing that HTC more than others, LG, Motorola or Samsung, announced their willingness to work on that project.
The impact of seeing a working version of the Android next week are pretty big starting with the pressure it will put on current type of mobile phones. Can you smell that Apple? Yes I know it stinks for you.
