Seagate (Maxtor) announced yesterday during CES their latest product, the Black Armor external hard drive. At the first glance it doesn't seem to be more than just a black box with a storage capacity of 160GB, but you should know that Seagate designed it with built-in AES encryption.

The AES encryption on Seagate's Black Armor means that the info you store are encrypted and won't need special software to decrypt. Seagate thinks this product would do great with the Police or with the Government in different countries, and even with corporate clients and I may add "the bad guys" that would want their info kept secured.

The price for Seagate's Black Armor will be $149 and should be available in the second quarter of 2008. Meanwhile, all we can do is enjoy the remarkably elegant design for an external hard drive.
