Why is it that both AMD and Intel are having trouble keeping up with their timetables? First Phenom 9700 and 9900 got delayed and now I hear that the new 3.2GHz Core 2 Extreme quad-core from Intel is being set back with a month or two. The 45nm chip was due in January and no official explanations were offered.
If I were to think a little bit deeper into it I could say that Intel is waiting to see what moves AMD are going to do, before they release it, even if the 3.2GHz model is ready in their labs. Let's not be sarcastic and let me tell you that this is the last traditional mainstream processor we're going to see before the company announces Nehalem architecture.
While we're waiting I think you should write it down that the 3.2GHz Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core is going to cost some $1,399 which isn't cheap, but it's damn fast.
