First announced in November 2007 and later delayed the AMD's Phenom processor is getting more bad news. Apparently Phenom 9700 (2.4 GHz) and Phenom 9900 (2.6 GHz), AMD's quad core processors, will not be shipped in the first quarter of 2008 as decided and the company sent an official statement to confirm the delay. It's going to be Q2 of 2008.
Apparently the problem is with the chipset's translation lookaside buffers (TLBs) that brought problems on AMD's Barcelona server technology. However AMD denied this could cause the delay and put it on prioritization, resources and the OEM and partner input. I can translate this for you if you want: the low success of the triple-cores (Toliman) processors which AMD tries to focus on until they release the Phenoms.
Not a good business model if you ask me, but it's their choice. Many AMD fan might switch to Intel considering what was released lately.
