Upcoming FireWire to go up to 3.2Gbps

Last month I told you that we should see USB 3.0 live from 2009, with speeds that could go up to 4Gbps. Apparently, FireWire will not give up and with their latest version S3200 will be able to use the same FireWire 800 cables and ports to get up to 3.2Gbps transfer rates which would make them really competitive.

firewire.jpgThe new Firewire S3200 enables data transfers up to 100 meters away with home entertainment, like HDTVs, computers, TVs and so on, to be the first where they apply it.

Known as IEEE 1394 the tecnology is called FireWire by Apple and i.Link by Sony.
