The battle between the OLPC project (with voices saying Negroporte failed) and the Eee PC from ASUS is still on, but the low cost laptop is supposed to sell in 3.8 million units next year (fiscal year), or that's what ASUS believes.
The price is very good, and the specs recommend it, so we can start waiting for bulk orders from different countries, too, just like the OLPC.
ASUS also announced that next year they will concentrate on the emerging markets and they will deliver it with a stripped-down version of Microsoft XP to make it cheaper. I have no doubt it will be a very hot subject next year when we get the numbers out.
