If you think that most of the cellphones released these days have better and better cameras with more and more pixels I guess a guide for cellphone photography is indeed needed. You drive your car, take a business trip and you find something interesting to picture and the only solution is your cellphone so you should be prepared. Read this mini-guide to get the most of your cellphone pics.
- Hold it steady. You don't get image stabilization in a cellphone camera so it's vulnerable to shakings. A solution is to embrace one arm with the other one and use your body as a tripod.
- Watch the light. Be it phone or a digital camera you should always pay attention to the light because you don't want the pictures to be dark. Try to keep the light behind you (in front of the subject) and if you're shooting in low light if you don't have a built-in flash try to find a primary light to use.
- Get close. If you don't have a very good CMOS sensor on your cell camera then you should fill the frame with the subject so that you don't lose details. That is because the resolution won't help you to capture those far away details.
- Pose people. You don't have a fast shutter camera over there so don't expect to have some great subject-moving pictures. Ask your subjects to stay still.
- Keep lens clean. May not get noticed it but fingerprints on your lens will only bring blurry pictures. You don't want it so keep your lens clean.
- Use the highest resolution. If you can choose the highest resolution levels it's easier to edit later.
- Edit your pictures. Use photo editing software to make the mods you need on your pictures. It may look good on your LCD display but on a computer or on paper there may be some bad areas.
- Practice a lot. Like any other domain, practice makes it perfect.
This sounds like a very good guide for cellphone pictures, so if you want to add something I'm looking forward to hear it.
