Invention of the Year is the iPhone, by Time Magazine

Not sure if you will be surprized or not, but Time Magazine just awarded the iPhone with their Invention of the Year. I was expecting it if you consider that Apple sold 1,119,000 pieces in the fourth (financial) quarter that ended on September 29th and the fact that it was named the "best gadget ever" by T3 magazine.

Apparently Time Magazine managed to find five (out of many) reasons why the iPhone should have won the invention of 2007 award and the biggest is the looks. From the begining Steve Jobs had the idea of a pretty phone, mainly because other companies developed phones and put the design on the second place.

Thoug it's locked on AT&T (and you can unlock it or get one from France), is big and slow, won't have IM or work email, the touchscreen display, the OS X platform, the future vision of what the iPhone could become if we consider the iPod evolution are key ingredients for the Invention of the Year.
