You may not be like me with losing your batteries whenever you buy a new pack but if you are then there's hope for us. I've just stumbled upon the easiest way of keeping batteries all together (other than a plastic bag), called the Battery Caddy and was developed for space pilots to keep their batteries from not getting all over the place.

 

I guess the creators have stress-tested it a lot because they brag with it not losing anything no matter how much you bang it back and forth, just because of those flexible teeth that prevents a battery from sliding out. The Battery Caddy comes in lots of sizes and colors (seven) with prices from $4.95 to $13.95 depending on the dimensions.
