If you've been using Microsoft's Windows for some time now, like I do, you'll have to agree that service packs always came out to patch various problems they never thought of, with their initial product. It's time for Vista to get a doctor's appointment because Microsoft released ServicePack 1 Beta.
For those interested to know what are the key features for SP1 beta, I've found a complete review on PC Magazine and will summarize here, some of them:
- Not a very smooth instalation process, but I guess that's what we should expect if it's still a beta.
- Everything is much faster and I'm talking about the response time your applications take to load. Returning from Hibernation also sped up and even those dialog boxes appear faster on the screen
- Apparently consuming less power overall. Laptop users should be happy if the real service pack will improve battery life
- Enhanced third-party program compatibility and lots of security updates to make the system less vulnerable to malicious code
- Support for Direct3D 10.1
