In a recent article written by Melissa J. Perenson of PC World, she announced some price drops for notebooks equipped with HD DVD drives. Toshiba's Carl Pinto, vice president of product development and product management also stated that history will repeat itself and he sees HD DVD adopted at large from 2009 or 2010.
Apparently "DVD love" appeared when DVD-ROM/CD-RW combos started to sell and since they're selling DVD/DVD-RW drives for some time, the next step should be HD DVD drives which were first installed on Toshiba's Qosmio at the beginning of this year, when the prices reached $3,000 and went down to about $1,500. Pinto also mentioned that we will be able to buy a Toshiba Qosmio HD DVD notebook for less than $1,000 by Christmas. However, I can see a small problem here and is related to a notebook's screen that usually doesn't deliver 1080p. What to do you guys think?
Oh and one last thing. Do you guys missread this one as Qosimo? I do, and I guess it's all those Japanese releases I'm seeing these days.
