If you were thinking that writing Blu-rays at 4x is not a big deal at all, then I will argue that and tell you more about Sony's BWU-200S which is two times faster than what we had last year from BWU-100A. It can write 50GB of data or up to 230 minutes of high-definition HDV 1080i video on a BD-R disk (write once) in about 45 minutes so I guess I can make a coffee and write another article while I get all my hard drive backed up, don't you think?
Sony BWU-200S can also burn BD-RE at 2x, DVD±R at 16x, dual-layer DVD±R at 8x, CD-R at 40x and CD-RW at 24x and features a Serial ATA (SATA) interface.
"The drive comes with CyberLink BD Solution software that provides a comprehensive application for capturing, authoring, editing, burning and viewing high-definition personal content captured in the native HDV 1080i format from an HDV camcorder."
The price for the new Sony BWU-200S will be $600 and will be available on SonyStyle next month, with preorders open as we speak.
