The One Laptop Per Child program was covered here a few times so I guess you know what's it all about. If you don't then I will say it again: it should be a laptop for poor children in the world and was known as the "100 dollar laptop". However many things happened during the last year and prices spiked first to $150 in February, then hit $175 in April, $188 two weeks ago and today without shame (and after 9months) it should be available for $200.
The OLPC Foundation, founded by MIT Professor Nicholas Negroponte seems to be ready to sell OLPC laptops on their site, where donors should choose 10,000 lots in order to get the $200 price. If I were to be in this guy's shoes, I would really called it quit just because I couldn't keep my word to create the $100 laptop.
Why should we consider this miniature laptop for $200 when other companies already have something big and fast enough for prices slightly above that? And should I mention that analysts estimates that Negroponte's laptop will soon reach the $230-$250 mark, and still no shame.
