Do you remember last month when I told you that Starbucks UK will offer free internet to its customers? I guess someone else got smart and thought of doing the same. McDonald's is supposed to offer free wireless internet in their over 1,200 restaurants across the United Kingdom and became "the country's biggest provider of free wireless broadband access".
This is a very good move from McDonald's if you take into consideration that pay-as-you go prices in the UK to surf for one hour costs 5 pounds, which is about $10. So why pay someone when you could spend that money on a BigMac and a shake?
McDonald's will have about 10% of the total wireless (WiFi hotspots) market in the United Kingdom. What do you think Starbucks?
