Few Reasons Why Voyager COULD Be Better Than iPhone

Yes, it's true the buzz ain't over and it won't stop any time soon, because the news today shaked the whole cellphones market. Just a few moments ago I read a great article on cult brands and how Apple fanatics won't leave their iPhone for any new device with as many functions out there, but I'm here with some updates and a few reasons why LG Voyager  could really surpass iPhone.

  1. First thing would be the QWERTY keyboard, that anyone passionate about browsing the internet would kill to have.
  2. Better internet services, thanks to the Verizon Wireless network that delivers higher speeds than AT&T.
  3. I'm still waiting cofirmation on that one, but rumors say that prices are between $250 and $300.
  4. Similar campaign (you need to wait before you get your hands on) to what Apple used when releasing the iPhone.

I'll have to agree that leaving Apple behind is a hard thing to do, but imagine that the iPhone won't get a keyboard any time soon and that AT&T is not delivering what the users need and you get a pretty good start for LG Voyager.

» LG VX10000 Voyager to Diminish iPhone Sales? from BizToolbelt
A few days ago I mentioned the autumn party Verizon will have in a few weeks with the four grand dukes, Juke, Pearl, Venus and Voyager and today I'm bringing more info on LG Voyager or LG VX10000. From what... [Read More]

» Verizon Voyager Phone: Apple iPhone Rival Launches from Know More Media
Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) has announced the new Verizon Voyager cell phone, manufactured by LG and due to launch in the U.S. by late November.  The Voyager is being widely hailed as the most significant contender to the Apple... [Read More]

There are two reasons I wouldn't get an iPhone: no keyboard and its only available through AT&T...Ok technically 3 reasons - I love my Blackberry :-). Now that there's the iPod touch, I could have something as cool and functional (for my purposes anyway) as an iPhone without having to bother with a wireless carrier that I wouldn't convert to. It would be really great if there was a wireless keyboard for the iPod Touch and iPhone though, that might make up for not having the QWERTY but it doesn't seem that either are really supposed to be mini laptops, just cool gadgets.

First of all, the Voyager may come close to the iPhone, but not that close. The iPhones user intererphase is that unlike any PDA, Blackberry, Smartphone, or cell phone out on the market. Windows UI doesn't even beat out Mac OS X. So the worlds best computer company (not the most popular) built an amazing phone with Mac OS X mobile on it. The fact of the matter is, LG can't even come close to the iPhone. I'll agree that the internet on the iPhone is a bit slow, but nothing that anyone can't handle. The Voyager does look like a great phone, but a sad copy of the iPhone. Why doesn't someone else come up with a whole new cell phone and give Apple a run for their money? Instead, everyone is too busy trying to copy the iPhone idea. Guess what, YOUR TOO LATE! And as for the Qwerty keyboard, Apple emphasized that their touchscreen keyboard is better, and I agree full heartily.

The reason why the Voyager won't kill the iPhone is its screen. I was hoping it would have a screen resolution at least as high as the iPhone (320x480), but instead the resolution is just 320x240. Which is completely useless for browsing the web.

I'm trying to decide on my next phone, and right now the iPhone is clearly in the lead because no other phone is as good for browsing the web.

I dont think you have any say in the matter. If you believe that Apple is the best computer company in the world, you clearly need to update yourself on what the defenition of "best" is.

Now, I was wondering, people say there isn't a qwerty keyboard, but there is right? I mean I have an iPhone and the touch phone does have the touch keyboard. But do you guys mean the "buttons" not the touch? The iPhone without the keyboard may not be as useful to people with "bigger fingers" (lol my friends have the hardest time typing, but it suits me perfectly), it makes it much thinner without the hardware involved. The iPhone looks thinner than this one. Anyway, I'm actually looking into switching maybe to this. I used to be over Verizon until it ended and the iPhone just came out at that time. I love my iPhone, but truthfully the biggest downfall to it is the service. Verizon leads completely. But the interface of the iPhone makes it so much better compared to any other phone out there. And it was their 1st phone. Just imagine what apple has in store for the next iPhone. If they can succeed with the first copy so quickly and outdo all phone (creator) companies, how does that make LG look? And I love LG. If only the iPhone went to Verizon...

PS What also might be useful to this phone is if it has picture messaging.

I switched to IPHONE from Verizon and so far so good.. The touch keyboard is intuitive and easy to use. And the full Safarai browser is the bonus. ...Listening to the IPOD, browsing the WEB... .. ring . ring, oops I have a call.. click on the earphone .. answer the phone....call ends . auto switch back to IPOD/and browser.. everythng is seamless. .. 'it's the interface stupid !' to paraphrase Mr. Clinton

I saw the video of th voyager and besides the touch screen on the front , there does not appear to be anything new.. The touch keyboard is a telephone keyboard, and the interface is something you find on the exisitng verizon phones , just on a bigger touch screen.

I am interested in seeing the voyager full featured Internet browser .. will it stack up to Safari ?

With IPHONE now being opened up to 3rd party developers... and the apps that this will trigger .. I don't think the voyager will be much of a threat.. I see the IPHONE a new platform .. not just a new phone.

The competition to the IPHONE will be the next version of the IPHONE.

Yes it does have picture messaging. Actually its has multimedia messaging. Send and receive Text, Pictures, Videos, and Sound files.

NOOB AlERT!!!!

Completely Wrong!
First. The Voyager screen dimensions are 400x240 (Width x Height).

Second. The "dimensions" It don't reflect on the quality of the display that the "Resolution". The Iphone's resolution is 160ppi and the voyagers resolution is between 160ppi and 190ppi.

The Voyager has a slightly smaller screen, 80x80 px less that the iphone (480-80=400)(320-80=240). Hardly enough to take away from web browsing. There are 200 pixels in an inch. So according to you less that a half an inch (0.4, width of a pen) makes the Voyager useless for web browsing? Ohhhhh Kayyyyyy !!

Please education yourself before making comments Steve Jobs doesn't have all the answers.. Read a little bit!!

What bugs me the most about the iPhone is the little things that Apple does to make you spend more. For example, the headphone jack is recessed so you have to buy their special headphones to use it. The battery is fused to the phone, so in 2-3 years you'll have to either go to them to get it replaced, or buy a new phone. Very annoying.
Also judging from this list: LG Voyager vs iPhone Comparison - Comparati
the Voyager has way more features than the iPhone.
The iPhone does look good though.

ok this is to everyone that thinks the iPhone is better than the lg voyager.
1. iPhone is a copied name from a phone by "Cisco"
2. iPhone took the design from the LG Prada and just perked it up
3. don't say verizon is struggling without the iPhone because apple offered the iPhone to verizon and they declined FOR A REASON
4. if you have read this and want to hear more about how the voyager way better than the iPhone, read the reviews from this site: http://comparati.com/890-LG-Voyager-vs-iPhone

You can shake em' 7 days a week and people will still be in different camps comparing, complaining. My solution for a one on one. Here it is:

PURCHASE SCENARIO:

** "The Apple iPhone and the LG Voyager are now available from the same carrier. They are both the same price. Now with an even playing field, the choice is easier, since the "service" aspect has been eliminated. So, it comes down to a personal choice. Will you buy (Displayed Alphabetically):
A)... Apple iPhone?
or
B)... LG Voyager?
Now we'll receive the TRUE answer to the comparison!" **

NOTE: The above scenario is NOT valid. It is Fictitious, so we can remove the "service" aspect of our scenario, in order to receive a valid comparison of what the people really think!

Gunny

PS. I'll make the first choice. I choose the Apple iPhone!

I've tried and compared both phones. For people who often operate their phone one-handed, iPhone is much easier. Voyager was too bulky, and in order to type anything the screen had to be open making it even more difficult. iPhone's sensitive multi-touch and learning predictive typing is great. anyone who hits the wrong keys on the touch screen keyboard just isn't using it right (i have fat fingers too).

Voyagers internet through Verizon is faster in comparison to iPhone's EDGE network through at&t, but WIFI on iPhone speeds are as fast as the WIFI signal (often beating Voyager's). Plus who wants to pay extra to use the internet all the time. It's a resource, not a product. WIFI is free and easy.

iPhone is also Apple's first phone EVER, so you have to give them credit for creating the fastest selling phone on their first try.
LG has made hundreds of phones (and many bad ones), so even questioning which is better is just sad. With all that practice (and the "breakthrough" of the Prada, which barely sold) you would think LG could make a phone that would indefinitely surpass iPhone.
After using the Voyager I just don't get the "WOW" factor as much as the first time I used an iPhone. Mac OSX is a powerful OS to be packed into a phone with amazing future potential when apps are released soon. Voyager is still constricted by the shackles of Verizon's lame interface, lack of application additions, (and Vcast sucks).

LG and Verizon really need to step it up and make something that creates as much excitement and stimulation in the market as Apple did with iPhone. This time around it looks like they just attached an iPhone to the front of an enV. The touchscreen is pretty redundant when you have a keyboard and high res screen already.

Ok,1st of all,lg and verizon didn't copy the iphone! apple copied verizon's original voyager-esque phone which came out way b4 the iphone was planned.it's called the prada! just putting that out for anyone stupid enuff to talk without the truth. RESERCH PPL! now, the voyager is so much better than the iphone can ever be. i know since ive had an iphone when i switched from verizon to at&t. its amazing but compared to the voyager...lets just say it blew the iphone out of the water . thats right, i switched bak to verizon and got the voyager.it has more features in addition to all the features the iphone had. so for all u who think the iphone is better , ur wrong.

P.S. to answer anonymous' question about which would u pik even if they both had the same service and price and all that , i'd pik..... the iphone ... lol just kidding!!!!!!!!! NEVER THE IPHONE! NEVA!!! VOYAGER ALL THE WAY!

Kimberlee Morrison who left the comment saying the voyager is trying copy the iphone has to be one of the most stupid people i have ever seen leave a comment....please crawl in a cave and never show your face again you know nothing what so ever....iphone copied LG prada look and yes verizon did turn iphone down for many reasons...so ya Kimberlee Morrison please never leave anymore comments for the sake of everyone....thanks :)

OK Andrew, commonsense, (and all the other morons who chastise others to do research and then call them idiots for claiming the Voyager is copied off the iPhone, and then suggesti the iPhone is copied off the Prada) time to get spanked. First, the iPhone has been in development for years, long before the Prada was even a dream in the mind of the Verizon corporate board. Second, Verizon SAW the iPhone prototypes YEARS ago as well. What little information they could gleen was passed on to their contract manufacturers, including LG. They turned it down not because they had a superior phone (they didn't) they turned it down because they could not generate a revenue stream (a.k.a. rip off their customers) on a phone with free WiFi, file downloads, the ITMS, and Apple's insistence on an unlimited data rate plan.
The idea that the iPhone is a copy of the prada is equally as ridiculous. Putting aside the fact that they do not even look the same, the differences between OSX and Adobe Flash Lite are so great that any comparison is ludicrous. Care to make that comparison? And even if they were IDENTICAL, care to make a comparison of the TCO of both phones? Think ANY verizon phone will win that battle?
Oh, and Rohan, do a little research about Cisco and the iPhone trademark before you make declarative statements. It will help you avoid looking foolish in retrospect.

Seriously, if you are going to throw stones, try to avoid doing so in rubber rooms!

I totally agreed with ANDREW!! lol I soo can't want to get my voyager this monday!!!!! My friend have iphone and he think it's the best phone than all. i totally disagreed, so we got agruing over which is the best phone. So I did some research to prove him wrong and he was like whatever! He will be soo jealous when I get it! But i have a apple macbook laptop and I love it. Seriously....iphone is sooooo lame!!! That all i have to say...
