I'm not sure about you but having internet through electrical wires is something I've been drooling for, since it was first announced and that is because I don't have it here in my office. However, I would like to tell you that DS2, industry's biggest player in powerline communications technology just announced that they will be offering a theoretical 400Mbps speed just by using standard electrical wires.
I remember old times when we had to wait about 10 minutes to download a 4MB file, but the new 400Mbps powerline home network is not for such things because it will enable new HD capable applications such as multi-channel HD-IPTV delivery or multi-room PVR and should go live from 2009.
The new 400Mbps network, which is capable of five video streams at a time, will be demonstrated next month in New York and DS2 officials said that it should be compatible with 200Mbps gear so that you don't need to buy it new.
With all these home networking news I wonder if Donald Trump made a good decision with Verizon.
