The Imperial College in London is the proud inventor of a behind-the-ear motion sensor designed for athletes to monitor their performances during training and competitions and the sending it via wireless technology to a computer where it's being analyzed. The sensor will be tracking posture, stride length, acceleration and step frequency which will be used to make a report that will help the athlete to improve his performances.
"But what distinguishes it from others is it is very small and worn on a place in the body that is stable in noncontact sports." said Peter Vint with the US Olympic Committee.
So far it's been announced that the sensor is being tested on neuro-surgery patients and athletes at the moment and the result is that it works and could be mass produced in 12 to 18 months.
