If you don't know it already I am a fan of having a greener environment and I think I proved it when I told you about the Blog Action Day. I think I will make a habit of delivering you more environment news from now on because I am serious about it.
It looks like Ann Arbor a city in Michigan, US, the town of the Wolverines, is serious about it, too because they just announced to replace about 1,400 street lights with LEDs (light emiting diodets). This is supposed to be the country's first city that replaces all downtown street lights, because this could save them up to $100,000 each year.
LED technology uses less than half the energy of traditional bulbs, can last up to 10 years (unlike traditional that are being replaced after just two years) and will cost Ann Arbor $630,000. Yes the price is a little high, but if you think of yearly expenses and the fact the technology is improving, I think we should see more cities in this club, other than Toronto or Raleigh.
