$30,000 For A Jumbo Jet Simulator In Your Bedroom

How do you define a passion? Today I've heard about John Davis, a 47 year old British guy that quit his job as a graphic designer in order to  spend 8 years and £15,000 to build a Boeing 747 flight simulator in his house.

His Jumbo Jet simulator looks so real that if you weren't trained in an airplane cockpit you'd be fooled this is a real one. It makes use of 12ft x 9ft main screen that he made himself and 19-inch monitors on the sides that uses Microsoft Flight Simulator for all the data and Aerowinx PS1 to be able to experience full Air Traffic Control services that their real world counterparts experience. Joh Davis said in an  interview that the cockpit was made of wood with his own hands and for the autopilot system, throttles and the weather radars he inspired from the internet.

If you live near Coventry, UK and would like to give it a try to see if you can keep a Boeing 747 in air then you should know the price is £65 for one hour and £420 for six hours. Don't worry about getting into this guy's bedroom because as he mentioned there no room for anything else other than the jet simulator and this is why his wife left. So if you have the cash, you can enjoy.

That, my dear readers, is obsessive passion. Source and picture gallery on Gizmodo.
