In a market ruled by AMD and Intel we always need to see new processors, faster, greener or cheaper. AMD announced that they will be launching their new Barcelona processor, a Quad-Core Opteron for servers made on 65nm technology, that will bring in lower power consumption (we all need to get greener) and more performance. The processors have 512kb level2 cache on each core and 2GB shared.
Since it's a server chip, the new AMD Quad-Core Opteron, Barcelona, needs to cut down power consumption and AMD patented a system called CoolCore that won't send voltage to those parts of the processor that are not used. The prices will start from $209 and will stop at the top-level 2GHz AMD 8350, for $1019.
