Olympus has released 2 new digital recorders that are "the ultimate hybrids of digital voice recorders, music players and portable storage devices." According to the Olympus web site, The WS-321M and the WX-311M are both equipped to play MP3 and WMA music files. Neither requires a USB cable as they transfer files from the recorder to the computer like a USB flash memory drive.
The WS series offers Noise Cancel and Voice Filter. These features can be turned on during playback. The Noise Cancel reduces the surrounding background noise by removing the high and low frequencies. Voice Filter enhances the voice. There is also the Low-Cut Filter which can filter out background noises such as computers or air conditioners.
THe WS-321M boasts 1 Gb of memory, 277 hours of recording, and the WS-311M has 512 Mb and can record up to 138 hours. Each device has a dial thumb pad that facillitates activation or deactivation of the recording options.
