A recent study conducted by Queensland University of Technology got some pretty nice results about laser printers. I am sure no one ever thought that a printer can put your life in danger, but it looks like the laser printers emit clouds of ultra-fine particles that are just as bad as cigarettes smoke, said Lidia Moraska, professor with the Australian University.
Though the chemistry of those ultra-fine particles was not yet decided, by entering your lungs can lead to respiratory and cardiovascular problems. Can you imagine that you buy the best laser printers for your office, pay lots of cash and they can cause you health problems?
The study also revealed that the emissions from some laser printers were "five times higher than outdoor levels often produced by traffic", so if we feared traffic emissions from motor vehicles, power plants and factories, we should start thinking of our own office from now on. They banned cigarettes from offices, so I wonder if they will ban laser printers, too. Guess not!

My husband is a pharmacist and works twelve hour days two feet from a laser printer. When he gets home from work he has a chronic cough/mucous collection in his throat and lungs. We thought about this and he did not have this when we were on vacation for awhile. The printer at work prints the entire day.. My guess is his chronic lung irritation is due to the laser printer.
