After banning cigarettes on flights, a few years ago, people wished for other caprices like in-flight internet connections. Lufthansa, Qantas, United Airlines and a lot more other companies have already announced their plans for in-flight WiFi connections, which just put American Airlines at the end of the crowd. Recently they've approached AirCell to be responsible for installing wireless antennas for internet broadband connections - 802.11a/b/g.
The antennas will be first installed on a few Boeing 767-200 - transcontinental airplanes, and here's a bad thing, it will cost you money to email or message someone from the plane but no prices have been disclosed so far. However, if using the internet on the plane is just as expensive as making a phone call, I doubt many people will use it.
