Ever heard of the UK Shopping search engine Twenga? Well, now you have. Launched in 2006, Twenga aggregates product price offers and product reviews by consumers and experts using a proprietary Web crawling technology. It's currently available in France, the UK, Spain and Italy.
What can you find at Twenga? For example:
Computers - 487 active merchants. 823 brands. 57,825 up-to-date offers. 766 price drops. 14,551 consumer and expert reviews. All searchable, sortable and readable. Get the picture?
Video Gaming - Consoles, games, controllers, accessories ... it's all listed at Twenga.
Audio-Video - Find cell phones, smartphones, PDAs and other audio products. Any kind of TV? It's in there too. Twenga redirects you to the merchant's site so you can see full details on any listing.
Photo - Digital cameras, camcorders, even binoculars are available here.
Use Twenga to find product information and locate great merchants. Then go out and buy what you find on Twenga. It's as easy and simple as that.
There are many comparison shopping search engines online, but Twenga is one of the slickest-looking ones I've seen so far. I especially like the clean interface and simple design - particularly the ability to drill down from the top-level menus to tightly-defined niches of products I'm interested in learning more about.
One of the advantages of using a service like Twenga before buying an item is that you get a better sense of what constitutes a fair price for that item. Plus, you get to see a lot of different prices and deals at a glance. It's good for the consumer and encourages merchants to lower their prices even more.
Now I can't wait till Twenga opens up to the U.S. market!
