
So Vista ships tomorrow for the corporate clientelle. But according to Gartner, it will take roughly 15 to 18 months for total upgrading to complete. This happens for several reasons - namely the most obvious fact that this is money invested across the board.
But Vista claims to be easier to manage on a network scale:
In particular, Goldberg predicted technology managers would be drawn to Vista because it might help them better manage and protect the increasing amount of data their computers handle, while freeing up money now consumed by computer maintenance to be spent on innovation. (source)
According to the article, what's stopping corporate from completely adopting Vista is the cost of upgrading existing systems as well as the training employees have to go through to get a feel of the new OS including stuff like Aero as well as the latter versions of Microsoft Ofice 2007.
