I've been a form factor scrooge for the longest time. I didn't really care much for business tools that were thin or light, as long as they did the job. Until I started to attend formal functions - and keeping so many things in your pocket just looks soo .. dorky.
The Smart PDA has some information on just how thin devices can get -- and ARE getting, as we speak.
Even 0.6 (or 1.6) mm is a huge improvement, not only for thin smartphones, but for other smartphones and PDAs as well. For as the screen needs lesser space to function, engineers will have more space to play with. In other words, even devices that don't try to be the thinnest will benefit, since a thinner screen will allow manufacturers to cram even more functionality into a gadget. Or, they can simply concentrate on using the additional space to improve existing features.
