With the RTM of Vista coming in the next few days, it is unwise to go forth and buy a new PC now. In my humble opinion, Vista hogs up so much system memory, itwould be more wise to wait for a "Vista Inside" computer which you can buy straight off the rack or build one yourself AFTER seeing how Vista performs.
For laptops, it is also another story, quoting this article from Wired:
"Even with a (high-powered graphics processor), Vista extracts performance and more battery life, so it is pretty yet costly in terms of machine resources," said Nathan Brookwood of Insight64. "With a notebook environment when you are not plugged into the wall, you may very well want to turn off the extra graphics because your battery is going to get sucked up."
Notebooks will be needing a lot more juice to run Vista over several hours unplugged. Sheesh.
