I visit
Presentation Zen often for tips on business presentations. His
latest post talks about Murphy's Law which states that,
if anything can happen, it will. This especially holds true for business presentations. In theory your equipment isn't supposed to conk out on you while doing a presentation. But oftentimes, so many things happen such as blue screens of death, videos not playing and more commonly - drives and laptops not being recognized by projectors.
The key is always to have some sort of redundant backup. When doing my keynote presentations, I always make a backup Quicktime movie which I can play and pause at leaisure in case I have to play it on e PC. I also have note slides printed on a PDF document OR even printing the entire slideshow and using them with an overhead projector.
Always be prepared!
