Because of his frequent "moments of glory" while on the road, he gets hit with ideas that just needs to be jotted down. Apart from writing on his moleskin, his Powerbook needs to be juiced up all the time at all cost. He carries with him an extra Powerbook battery, extra batteries for his two other cellphones and rechargeable batteries + charger for his camera.
I sincerely believe that the measure for carrying extra batteries should allow you to be juiced without a plug for 24 hours before finding the need to charge.

hi, jayvee, thanks for the mention. you got that right: i'm something of a battery and redundancy freak, and my vision of hell is a situation where you're deep at work on a job, on the road, and your machine dies on you for want of juice! i look forward to the day when they can make lighter batteries that last 24 hours, or just one charger that can charge all your gadgets. my advice to fellow techies is: use your batteries when you have to; it's what they were made for, its good for their cells, and no matter what conservation measures you take, those batteries will die at some point. use them to get the job done, so they can make moe money for you, and you can buy more gadgets--and batteries :)
