In online businesses, these practices are catching up. It's pretty hard to market a company that can't be seen, like "okay this is our office, would you like to have some coffee while we show you our products?"
I've noticed that for the past several months I've been receiving emails from community advocates and dedicated PR guys promoting web products. What's interesting is that they are always the NEW *insert PR maven position here* . New PR pointperson, new community advocate .. the list goes on.
Maybe it's about time your online business hired a community manager to take care of your PR - i.e. bloggers and blog networks that write about your products.
