Japanese major Toshiba has announced the new Gigabeat MEV30K V series portable video player, the latest addition to its gigabeat chain, in United States. Back in May Toshiba released similar
Gigabeat V30 T in its home country Japan. The American version, however will miss out on the digital TV tuner. (I don't know if Toshiba's agenda includes keeping heavy watchers of 'Reality Shows' away from the idiot box or not!)
However, the model sports loads of features from the earlier S series , which includes PlaysForSure video playback, WMV9, WMV10 along with support for WMA, MP3, WAV, Windows DRM 9/10 audio files and above all Microsoft's Portable Media Center 2.o software version. Also comes along 30GB HDD, 8 hour video playtime on once battery charge and a built-in speaker
The 3.5 inch TFT LCD display (QVGA resolution) is good one inch more than the earlier S model.
Amazon has started taking pre orders for $400. Goes on general sale on October.
