Ford, GM and Mazda have announced plans with Apple to add iPod connectors to several new models of vehicles hitting the market in 2007. Apple has already had success with this partnering with Honda, VW and Mercedes-Benz. The thing about this new deal is that Ford and GM are big sellers in the U.S. domestically. So that could mean 70% of the new cars out on the road would be able to plug right into the iPod. Frankly however, given that I have Sirius satellite radio in my car, I don't see the need for it. I like my iPod for my workouts and my work habits, but I prefer satellite radio in the car.
