Weighing in at 4.2 pounds and 1.43-inches thick the Averatec AV2260-EK1 is at the borderline of "Ultra-portable". The system is built with a plastic casing mated to a small keyboard. Being a fan of regular full-sized keyboards, I find the keyboard offered on the AV2260 quite cramped. Claiming to be one of the cheapest ultra-portable laptop, Averatec has built this machine with the AMD Turion 64 MT-32 for a heart and 1GB of RAM to boot. Although not as fast as the other dual-core AMD processors in the market, at $1,079.99 what you pay is what you get. Other goodies packed into this system, is a built in DVD-Burner and a 12.1-inch trans-reflective screen. However, the battery powering up this system is a bit of a disappointment, lasting only 1 hour & 42 minutes. For an extra $99, one can purchase & add an extended life battery. However, after pushing the retail price up by $99 other range of laptops such as the Apple Macbook & Dell's M1210 would seem more appealing.
