Why should blind businessmen be left out of the mobile revolution?
There are plenty of blind people who have put their handicap behind them and are extremely successful at what they do. They do business like the rest of us, make deals like the rest of us, but what they have lacked however is the ability to SMS. SMS devices for the blind have so far involved text to speech, which, as you might imagine is not very useful for privacy, and not to mention -- generally defeats the purpose of text messaging in the first place.
Samsung have been actively involved in this area with oddball Touch Messenger device for the blind. There is however, no word on if it will ever see production, but the fact that it caught the eye at the IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America) 2006 awards, gives hope to the visually impaired everywhere.
