Nokia has announced that they are in the testing phase of a new plan that could truly make roaming in and out of service areas much easier and more reliable. The idea of a cell phone being able to dial out on a Wi-Fi connection is something that

many look forward to. Instead of being in contact with a central location, UMA technology would allow callers to use established Wi-Fi networks to dial out, as long as a secure IP connection can be made. As with anything dealing with cell phones, I'm sure all the carriers will find a way to provide the Wi-Fi feature for a handy little fee, but it may be worth it for anyone who's been outside their coverage area, but needed to make a call anyway.
