One of the key features, which the Creative Zen and I-river have over the Ipod, is their ability to record audio. Apple has instead opted to leave this out of the basic Ipod package and rely on accessory makers to pick this up. Voice is saved onto the iPod as WAV files, and the Micro Memo doesn't require any external battery source, as it just takes it's power from the iPod.
It even comes with a mono-speaker built-in, somewhat useful for voice, but not something that would adequately play music. Look for the release in Japan in August 2006.
