Intel says their new processors will soak up 40% less juice than their predecessors. Not that microprocessors are huge power-hogs to begin with, but a

step towards more efficiency can never be labeled a bad thing. Named Conroe and Merom, they are part of the Core-2 Duo family of processors. Conroe will be the chip for your desktops, and Merom will go into notebooks, and Woodcrest is already in servers. Intel says these chips are meant for the high-end user. The gamer, the businessman, and so on. In other words, they know you want speed, speed, and more speed. I myself can't wait to see what these new processors can do, as AMD has made great strides themselves in this field of late.
