The guys at Engadget has a very useful tip for networks that make use of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. With several of these attached to your computers, you, as network admin have the power to push that button, turning them all off.This is theoretically possible because UPS hardware connects not only physically but also through software. You would want to initiate a system shutdown for data security and safety especially during fluctuations, or a rampant virus - or getting that IT guy off World of Warcraft during office hours.
