Apparently this will be helpful when Blu-ray discs are worth copying. A single-layer Blu-ray disc can hold 25 gb's of data, but will set you back about $25 just for the disc. About $1 per gig of storage isn't exactly a good deal when you can get a 250 gb firewire drive from Office Depot for about $200.
You could also buy blank DVD discs for about $1 each and they hold 4.7gb, about one third the price of a Blu-ray disc. None of those stats factor in the price ($500+) of a Blu-ray disc recorder.
So for now, don't buy a Blu-ray disc burner, or duplicator and just wait 6 months and buy one for $300 and discs for $5 each, that'll be a good deal.

great post. Thanks for waking me up to it. I never thought this machine would come out so soon. Look out for Bluray pirates in your local mall soon..
