
It's quite amazing how the MacBook has been performing. As a consumer model notebook, a lot of power users were turned off by the fact that the MacBook had shared memory.
But this was expected and shared memory will continue to be the factor of checks and balances between the MacBook and Pro models. Recently though, the 2.0GHz MacBook was pitted against a Pro and 2.0GHz G5.
Here is the conclusion:
Normally you don't even think about running benchmarks of professional-level creative software on a laptop against desktops, and certainly not a laptop targeted toward consumers. But in the vast majority of tests, the MacBook beat out the desktop system and certainly proved itself competition for all but the highest-end (G5 Quad) Mac systems on the market today.
