Apple products have a poor track record when it comes to the quality control in new hardware, and the recently released MacBook is no exception. Several people have already complained about experiencing discoloration issues with their new MacBooks after 2 weeks' of use. It is possible that a heat-related issue could contribute to the discoloration, as the MacBook uses similar material as the Toshiba Satellite P30 that was prone to discoloration as well. So far attempts to remove these marks with everyday, household cleaning agents proved futile. This problem is not covered under the warranty as Apple does not recognize cosmetic issues as a defect. Sounds like the fiasco in relation to their iPod Nanos sometime ago.
