As far as webcams go, I'm no fan.  My cingular phone, or Skype always works great for me...I don't really have a desire to see you as I talk to you...maybe because I'm not really paying 100% attention, and I'm typing this as we are talking.

Then again, isn't it just like Microsoft to come out with a "new" - but with no new features except more Microsoft only integration - webcam after a few years of webcam technology?

This new VX-6000 is just another webcam that can post pictures directly to Microsoft Live, but instead of having to upload it yourself (select file, click upload), this one can upload automatically.

Here is what Microsoft had to say about the need for the VX-6000, "Consumer research¹ has revealed that people want to stay connected, and many would use webcams if they were easier to operate and provided better audio and video quality."

So more people would use a webcam if it were more like the built-into MacBook Pro Apple iSight which is about the size of a pencil eraser.

I for one don't have a need for another cheap webcam that has to be mounted.  Hopefully my new 15" MB Pro will be here tomorrow...
