During, and at the end, of the 3 soccer matches I watched, I could see reporters with computers. These reporters had cell phones attached via USB (I assume) that provided them with an internet connection. This is mind blowing for me, but it makes sense.
Most of these journalists aren't writing for a daily paper that will come out tomorrow morning. Most of them are writing for online publications that will come out on the front page of their respective paper as soon as they are proofread and edited, which brings me to my point: Be productive, whenever and wherever.
If you are serious about your business, don't let downtime like overnight trips and airports slow you down. Get a lightweight laptop computer, or a good pen and paper (your preference) and work whenever you have 15 minutes.
You don't have to have a desk to jot down some ideas, or a internet connection to send email. One of my habits is to send email when I am offline. I do that by typing the email, clicking send (via Microsoft Entourage for Mac) and then just doing whatever else I need to do. Entourage will automatically send any email in my outbox whenever it has a connection available.
This tip keeps me going even when I'm away from the office. Next time you watch the World Cup, remember that you can be productive whenever and wherever you are!
