Mitsubishi borrowed the idea of a table by introducing the DiamondTouch display tabletop that enables people sitting around to manipulate the objects on the screen with just their fingers. Mitsubishi hopes that the DiamondTouch will be used in games, governments, the education sector as well as other environments where a group of people need to interact intuitively and instantly. Using the DiamondTouch will require good table manners, as elbows ought to be kept off the table lest somebody accidentally deletes a file unwittingly. The price could prove to be rather prohibitive, with initial tables costing as much as $10,000 each as there are not enough commercial orders to warrant mass production.
