Japanese company Greenhouse will unveil the IDE/SATA-USB Adapter next month. This nifty device allows you to connect any 3.5" or 2.5" hard drive at one end while the other end of the adapter can be plugged into a USB 2.0 port, enabling you to access the many hard drives lying around at a snap. It should cost somewhere around $25 and is compatible with the Windows platform (ME or newer) and Mac OS X 10.1.3 and above. It would be more prudent to just purchase an external hard drive instead.
