Afterall, once your shred a paper you are basically saying, "This is important, steal it if you can."
A cross-cut shredded will greatly diminish the desire to steal and put back together your documents.
For example, the "Light Duty" Fellowes 220CC has a Shred Size of 5/32" x 1-1/4".
That is pretty small. Then bin on this shredder is about 18 gallons, that will hold a lot of shredded paper.
With a cross cut shredder on hand, your documents are about as secure as they can be.
